The Knights
of Columbus (KoC) Council 12461, an
integral part of Christ the King Parish held its Installation of Officers and
Induction of Service Personnel for the Columbian Year 2012-2013 on Friday,
October 19, 2012 at the CTK Formation Center in Greenmeadows Avenue, Quezon
City.
This year’s
installation program started with a sumptuous dinner served council and
district officers, members, guests, their spouses and members of their families
who graced the occasion. A short
entertainment program followed thereafter while preparations for the
installation proper were being made.
With less
pomp and pageantry compared to last year’s but no less solemn and impressive,
the installation ceremony started with the entry of the Council Officers led by Fr. Peter Koching (standing in for KoC
Chaplain Fr. Jose S. Tupino), immediate past Grand Knight Augusto Soliman and
Warden Raul Botero. The officer-knights, dressed in their dignified knights’
robes, marched into the ceremonial hall in
grand orderly style and formed a human cross in the center amid the
blare of spirited, fighting music, “Onward Christian Soldiers”
GK Augie
Soliman opened the installation rites and delivered his valedictory address. In
it he thanked his fellow knights for their invaluable support, counsel,
cooperation and prayers in making his stint as Council Grand Knight a success.
He likewise wished the incoming grand knight and his council officers success
and pledged his unwavering support, advice and assistance whenever needed. Fr. Peter Koching led the invocation thereafter.
One by one,
led by the new grand knight, GK Rudy Ibanez, each elected officer stood before

Connecticut USA, by Fr. Michael J. McGivney, his mission and vision and his
concern for the families left behind by their deceased breadwinners that led to
the establishment of an insurance organization catering to the financial needs
of the families. The GK also reiterated the 4 pillars of the Knights of
Columbus, namely, Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism and urged each worthy knight to advocate and
uphold. Deputy Grand Knight Paul Uy
spoke subsequently about the many programs and activities of the Council, among
which are the campaign against the RH Bill,
active participation in the PPCRV election watch, Youth Squires programs, Christmas Tree Light Up project, sponsorship of the monthly 4th
Sunday mass and good of the order series
of talks on our Catholic faith.
In the same
venue, awards of recognition were given to the following knights for their
outstanding contributions to the affairs and welfare of the Council:
SK Manny Magbag - Knight of the Year
SK Augie Soliman - Knight of the Year
SK

After the
ceremonies proper were all done, the much awaited relaxation and fellowship
part of the evening program followed. The
indefatigable duo ‘night-shining’ knights, SK Tony Tan and SK Manny De Leon led
the knights and their guests in an evening of music and entertainment. There
were wild singing, ballroom dancing graced by gorgeous and handsome D.I.s and
rounds of drinking and plain camaraderie enjoyed by everyone present. SK
James Mendoza
